August 30, 2025, members of Edmonton Musical Theatre’s Board of Directors were pleased to attend the dedication of the newly re-built Roxy Theatre’s Mezzanine in honor of Dr. Dasha Goody, EMT’s founder. The reception, hosted by Dasha’s daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Rob Graesser, featured a performance of her favorite song, You And I, by Davy Damo and Brad Heintzman. Internationally renowned singer and EMT alumnus, Susan Gilmour, gave an impromptu acapella performance of On A Clear Day in honor of her former teacher and friend. Many of Dasha’s family, friends, associates, former students and past Board members were on hand to share stories and memories of their times with Dasha, and how she impacted their lives with a lot of laughs and a few tears shed.
During her lifetime, Dr. Goody was the recipient of numerous accolades in honour and recognition of her dedication to musical theatre instruction, including the Woman of Distinction Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Training of Young People, an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Alberta, and an induction into the Edmonton Cultural Hall of Fame.
The Dr. Dasha Goody Memorial Foundation was established in 2004 to create a legacy to Dr. Goody’s memory. To date they have donated annual support to Edmonton Musical Theatre, contributed $100,000 to the Roxy re-construction and awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to aspiring students of musical theatre.
